Google Hardware Store Opens in Chicago’s Bucktown Neighborhood

October 19, 2018

Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood is the newest home of the Google Hardware Store which opened to a lot of fanfare this week at 1704 N. Damen Ave. The store allows customers to experience and see in action their three latest hardware products – the Pixel 3 phone, their new tablet, and its Google Home Hub smart speaker. Their Ring, Nest, and home assistant are also part of the demos. The new location has a unique “hardware store” feel complete with “Google paint” (not for sale) and Google Toolboxes – essentially an extended hands-on in-store trial of devices. If you go, the real highlights are upstairs.

The second floor is interactive with a tree house, a faux kitchen and a swing picture “booth.” It’s there where customers can test Google’s products and image them in their own homes. Besides the products and interactive demonstrations, the hardware store has planned events like live music, a Team Pixel Walk, and demonstrations on how to better use current Google technology. Learn more about what Google has in store for the duration of the pop up on their events page.

The pop-up runs through the end of 2018, so make sure to make your hardware run while the paint’s still fresh.
